The Civil War change how America is, how its run, and the feelings of people today. Both sides were fighting over what they believed in and what would put more money in there pockets. The Confederates were fighting the Union over keeping slaves because without the slaves the South wouldn’t have as much money so they were doing the fighting for money. The Union thought that having slaves or calling someone your property was inhumane and was against their religion to do such a thing, also it didn’t really effect their economy.
The Union had many meetings with the Confederates but it seemed like every time they tried to resolve things, it only started another argument that drew them only more apart. Eventually, the Union and Confederates stopped trying to have peaceful resolutions and just continued the battle. This is like a real time event in Iraq where the U.S. is trying to help out Iraq but only wants U.S. to leave but we have decided to stay.
Both sides had ups and downs to the war but the South had more downs then ups but the North also had a major problem. The North had everything they need to fight the war except for trained soldiers to fight their battles and many were poorly or not even trained for battle. The South on the other hand had very good soldiers and generals for good strategies but were very poor when it came to their economic and government strengths.
The slaves had a very hard time transitioning to the war. Some slaves fled their land owners when they went into battle, some went to the North for a better life, and others stayed where they were because they only knew about the agricultural business so they decided to stay where they were needed. But even after the war was over, the blacks were still discriminated and in that result, organizations were formed like the KKK which still does exist today that used to do violent crimes.
So the outcome of the Civil War even though it happened over 200 years ago, it still has left an impact in U.S. history. After the war it left new discoveries for weapons and better ways to protect, manage, and keep our economy healthy. Many people died that casualties in World War 2 then couldn’t add up to the casualties in the Civil War.

i like this blog becuase you explain how the war came to be. and started also what happen in the war and, what the slaves did during the wr. like fleeing to free union land trying to buy land and all that.theres alot of detail into this passsage.
After reading this it kind of makes you wonder if either side ever stopped and thought they were wrong. You would have to assume that at one point the south must have realized that they were fighting for such an unjust cause, but they were way too far in to turn back. The North felt very strongly, just as the South did, but you just have to wonder if the south ever questioned their humanity.
Hey ben. I liked your blog. It seems like you really took the time out and thought about what you were going to write. I like how you talked about the south, the you.s, and the economy. It was great. It was really exciting to read and I learned something new.
Ben I really like your blog. It was great. I learned and concieved a lot from it. I like how you talked about world war to and I like how you talked about the civil war. It seems like your blog was well thought out and planned. Well done
I like how your blog tells what the civil war did and how it went. You explained the strengths and weaknesses of both sides. It can really give you a good perspective on how America used to be. Your blogs talked about things i didnt even know. For example, the union and confederacy had many meetings. i didnt know they had meetings at all. It really gave me some good information.
i really enjoyed reading your blog. Its very hard to understand how someone could beat a human just as themselves out of their natural born rights. Slavery was teaching Africans freedom, PLEASE. personally i know that prejudice and racism still exists today, and i get upset when rude racial comments or spiteful things are done to me in the once in the blue moon it happens so i cant imagine how it felt everyday.
Your blog was good. u covered all the information we had in class.Your blog isvery descriptive and paints a very vivid picture. its almost like im there.
This was a really good blog! I liked the fact that you added what each side was fighting for such as basic human rights or money. Even though the north thought that slavery was inhumane that when the freed slaves came to fight for them in the war they used them as the front lines which i find kind of hypocrytical. Anyway..... i loved the way you connected the current war in Iraq with the civil war but i would've liked to see some more information on it. It was a really interesting blog! thanks!
Emotional wrecks, battling against ones own family, just killing each other based upon ridiculous judgements! I hate it how thats how the US still works today, not as drastic obviously. But the unfortunate aspects of it all are overwhelmingly horrible. Trying to live your life from day to day, struggling to build relationships and just fight for what you believe in.
Even now with the presidential debates, I sat there and watched Obama repetivitely call McCain a liar. To think that Obama is a symbol of all sorts of nationalities and religions. Maybe the assumption that McCain is a good friend to our honorable Bush is a bit much.
More flags, more war. More screaming people, wheres the real freedom?!
Nice in comparing the Union wanting to help the South with US wanting to help Iraq. I liked how you discussed the cons of the war for all three, the Union, Confederates, and slaves. However, I would've liked to see some more information; the stuff at the end was kind of vague. You didn't quite connect how the Civil War shaped Americans today, but with some more background info I think you could've done it easily. Nice job.
I liked how you showed that racist feelings in the United States, caused groups like the KKK to be formed. Your essay opened my eyes to see that the Civil War, and the war in Iraq have many things in common. For example in the Civil War the Union tried to find ways to make the confederates not to get violence, but the confederates choose not to agree with Union conditions. In the Iraq war, President Bush tried to find ways to help Iraq; but the Iraqi’s refused to accept President Bush terms. This was very good essay, keep up the good work.
You had a well put together blog. You included a good bit of informative information. I liked how you talked about the economy and how it was affected. I also liked how you included Slavery in your blog as well. Great Blog!!
I enjoyed getting a review from this blog. I like how you told about the weaknesses and strengths that each side had and how the south couldn't necessarily handle the transition. I also agree that the War did have a big impact on the U.S and how unfortunatly we still have organizations such as the KKK but at least they are not violent anymore. But the thing is about those organizations you can't really change their minds on something they apparently believe in badly enough that they have to start something like the KKK.
